Tonero is a browser extension that adds a one-click tone toolbar to every text box in your browser. Select the text you have typed, choose a tone — Professional, Direct, Casual, Friendly, Emoji, or My Voice — and Tonero instantly rewrites it, right where you type.

Tonero is for anyone who communicates professionally in writing — team leads, account managers, sales reps, remote workers, and anyone who regularly writes in Slack, Teams, Gmail, LinkedIn or similar tools. It is especially useful for non-native English speakers who want to write with confidence.

Install Tonero from app.tonero.app/apps. Works in Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, and Arc — all Chromium-based browsers. After installing, create a free account at app.tonero.app. The toolbar appears automatically when you click any text field.

Tonero works inside any editable text field in your browser — including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Gmail, LinkedIn, Notion, Jira, GitHub, Intercom, and virtually any website. If you can type in it, Tonero can rewrite it.

Tonero works in any Chromium-based browser — Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, and Arc. Firefox and Safari support is on our roadmap.

On Mac, you can use Option+Shift+1 (My Voice), Option+Shift+2 (Professional), Option+Shift+3 (Direct), and Option+Shift+4 (Casual) to rewrite selected text without touching the toolbar. On Windows/Linux, replace Option with Alt.

Yes. Tonero detects which platform you are using (Slack, Teams, LinkedIn, Gmail, etc.) and passes that context to the AI, so rewrites are appropriately calibrated — a Slack reply sounds different from a LinkedIn post.

Yes. The free plan includes the three most popular tones — Professional, Direct, and Casual — with no time limit and no credit card required. You can upgrade to Pro whenever you need more.

Pro ($9/month) gives you three extra tones — Friendly, Emoji, and My Voice — plus unlimited custom voice profiles that teach Tonero your personal communication style. You also get priority rewrites and early access to new features.

No. Your text is sent to our server only to perform the rewrite and is not logged, stored, or shared. All traffic is encrypted with TLS. See our Privacy Policy for details.

No. Tonero only reads the text you have selected before clicking a tone button. It does not access, monitor, or transmit any other content on the page.

Account data (name, email, voice profiles) is stored on servers in Falkenstein, Germany. Tonero is GDPR-compliant. You can request your data or deletion at any time by emailing [email protected].

Yes. The Devices page in your portal lists every active session — browser extension, web portal, or any other device — with the sign-in date and session expiry. Click Sign out next to any entry to revoke it instantly, or use Sign out all to clear every session at once.

Up to 5 devices at the same time. If you sign in on a sixth device, the oldest active session is automatically revoked. You can always review your sessions on the Devices page.

Yes. Using Sign out all on the Devices page revokes every session immediately, including the extension. The next time you open the extension popup it will prompt you to sign in again.

Yes. On the Devices page, each Browser extension session has its own Sign out button. Clicking it revokes that session on the server instantly — the extension will detect this the next time its popup is opened.

Yes. Click Continue with Google on the sign-in screen — in both the portal and the extension popup. Google-authenticated accounts work identically to email/password accounts, including full device management and remote sign-out.

Voice profiles let you teach Tonero your personal communication style. Describe your typical tone, add writing examples, and set a default profile — so every rewrite sounds like you, not like a generic AI. You can have up to 5 profiles (e.g. one for client emails, one for internal Slack, one for LinkedIn).

My Voice is a Pro tone that uses your active voice profile to rewrite text in your own style. Set your default voice profile in the dashboard and the extension will use it automatically whenever you press the ✦ My Voice button.

Yes. In the Voice page of your dashboard you can fill in your bio and turn on the "Generate signature" toggle. When enabled, Tonero appends a brief, contextually appropriate sign-off based on your profile.

A Team plan is coming soon. It will include centralised billing, shared brand voice profiles, manager-level usage analytics, and SSO. Sign up for early access on the pricing page.

Shared brand voice profiles are a Team plan feature. Today, each Pro user can manage up to 5 individual voice profiles. Team-level sharing is on our near-term roadmap.
